Recently, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province announced a list of the provincial first-class undergraduate major construction program in 2021. CityU Dongguan had 7 majors on the list: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Financial Management, Business Administration, Insurance, Finance, and Digital Media Art. CityU Dongguan ranked 1st in Private Colleges and Universities of Guangdong Province in the number of selected majors ranking.

Before that, CityU Dongguan had 1 national-level first-class undergraduate major (Accounting) and 1 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major (Logistic Management). To date, CityU Dongguan has been approved for 1 national and 8 provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors.

In accordance with requirements of the construction of first-class undergraduate majors initiated by Ministry of Education, CityU Dongguan made arrangements in advance and made scientific overall planning. All the schools had arrangements based on the actual situation, conducted repeated discussion and optimization, and promoted the application of first-class majors solidly. All 7 majors applied for in 2021 were selected into the provincial first-class major construction sites, with a selection rate of 100%.

CityU Dongguan would continue to take the national and provincial first-class major construction as an opportunity. Through optimizing undergraduate programs, developing quality undergraduate courses and continuously improving the quality of undergraduate education, CityU Dongguan is to promote the organic integration of general education and professional education and cultivate more high-quality and multi-interdisciplinary talents.
